Archlord X (Archlord X: The Chronicles) is a new free fantasy MMORPG presented by Webzen, the maker of Mu Online and S.U.N Online. The game, especially for its graphics and user interface, has undergone significant modification and imprevement compared to ARCHLORD although it shares the same narratives and characters. The new Archlord X background, however, takes places a hundred years after the original Archlord. This is much like NCsoft’s Lineage Eternal and it instead is set 200 years after original Lineage.
According to the press release, Korea-based Webzen will release Archlord X for global gamers first before localizing it into Korean regions
Except for the initial part of the name, Archlord X is closely associated with the original Archlord world and plot. To meet aggressive gamer’s needs, Webzen also implements a large-scale battle system, namely, “Shrine War”, which let gamers experience multiplayer PvP combat among different races in different manners. The race-based PVP, if a winner is coming out, allows the winner to hunt for treasure in the new hunting dungeon. In most of MMOs, players cannot purchase items during the battle or fighting. But Archlord X is an exception, it instead encourages players to purchase various premium items using Charisma Points, the virtual currency that can be obtained during the race-based pvp battle. Ultimately, players with a higher level could participate in more tournaments and become the real lord of the Cantra continent.
Disappointingly, a loser will drop some items or lose some amount of EXP in PVP and PVE respectively. For this part, it is similar to those traditional MMORPGs we grew up playing.
Currently, the game is still in development and its release date may be coming as early as the end of this year. Stay tuned on Dotmmo.com.
