Armed Beasts is a mobile shooter game in which you simply control your beast character to shoot endless monsters that appear in your way at small areas. The game is developed by China Wireless Arts, which publishes games for iOS and Android, and their latest games include Age of Myth, Alert terrorist and Avenger.
Like Glu Mobile’s shooter Gun Bros 2, Armed Beasts features the same isometric view and twin stick control.
Judging from the icon of the App Armed Beasts, It would be a great game: a neatly textured creature equipped with a gun in its arms; Browsing through the app description and taking a look at the screenshots, I was lured to download the app.
The first two or so minutes of Armed Beasts are as much fun as a promising game is characterized by. For example, the quality 3D graphics, fluid movement, auto-firing and auto-Coin-absorbing – all that makes the game sound interesting. However, that is only what Armed Beasts boasts among all of features stated in the app description.
The game does not deserve your attention, and especially it is priced at $ 1.99 at launch. I was assuming the game has already sunk into the deep bottom in the vast sea of the APP Store. This explains why the developers chose to give a spur to the game within a limited free download time.
In the first map Golden Shore, you simply shoot endless enemies coming around within the circled area. The first mission requires you to eliminate ten waves of enemy monsters, and in the final wave, the monsters will become more aggressive and come in a great number. Although you can easily take care of the less robust monsters at the early stage, you may lose patience to keep attacking monsters approaching you because the monsters coming are never-ending, wave after wave. If the big boss in the end has finally approached you, you are dead. During your fighting, you will have a chance to pick up Coin, which could help upgrade Character’s damage, increase Ammo and reduce reload time.
The second map is where you attack a group of sheep. If you happen to touch the Big sheep, you will be dead. This map, in many ways, forces you to grind your way to earn Coin. The result is to force me to quit the game.
The developer CWA Games has managed to make a good game, but Armed Beasts has less contents to play and too simplified controls, which make the game feel like a mini game rather than a big 3D shooter.
Is this game worth buying? Or does this game deserve more than this criticism?
