The year of 2012 has been gone, leaving a wealth of best browser-based video games for fans of any genre to linger upon. And those titles have seen several new trends:
1, Most games borrow elements from games of different genres and it is nothing surprising if one explores dungeons in social titles, needs friends’ help to complete missions in RPGs, or equip heroes and boost their stats in strategy games.
2, Visuals are getting much better, with some titles presented in 3D pictures. Devs spare no effort in polishing the lovely, exotic, or stylish characters and structures to dazzle players and make them fall in love with the titles at first sight. Some even manage to offer 3D pictures in the browsers.
3, Also some cross-platform titles come into view, allowing players to resume their game whenever they’ve got a computer, iPad, Xbox 360 or something else at hand.
4, Browser Games are seamlessly integrated with Facebook, bringing the concept of “Social” and letting gamers to share their achievements on their Facebook walls.
Now New Year 2013 is coming, a time for us to expect more great browser games and a time for developers to redefine and make a new-generation browser games. But for now, there are already some new titles announced and to be released soon.
The Hobbit: Armies of the Third Age is a free to play browser strategy game released on March 21, 2013. middle earth awaits your command. Build a mighty city and wage epic battles. control renowned heroes from the Hobbit franchise. Prove your Valor and rule the Third Age.
Godsrule is an upcoming cross-platform MMORTS from Gogogic behind titles such as CakePopParty and Tiny Places. In the game, players manage their own land, gather important resources, battle enemies, seize more territories and dominate the persistent world with their friends and partners. The game supports PVP combat which holds a maximum of 10 players.
You lead a group of mercenaries and it is your job to design the best strategies to keep your group competitive and powerful enough to crush all the enemies and monsters. To that end, you are going to master magical skills and recruit powerful members. The game features old-school tactical gameplay as well as retro pixel pictures.
In a post-apocalyptic world, everyone is forced to search through the destroyed world, encounter various creatures and monsters, and fight to claim enough food and supplies to keep themselves alive. Players can choose from multiple races and classes and then explore the 3D persistent world, discovering dangerous areas and complete hundreds of quests.
The classic Anno strategy series will go online. Starting from a single island, players should attract inhabitants, satisfy their needs, unlock structures of over a hundred of varieties, open up new routes, visit friends’ islands, transact with other players, develop a balanced economy and claim more islands in the sea.
In a magnificent 3D world, players travel to the past and meet different NPCs for clues and directions so as to find ways to battle against the sealed evil force that will manage to come out in the near future. The game supports automatic navigating and combating but you can always try doing it all by yourself.
Legend World is Square Enix’s newly developed browser RPG where players are able to transform their avatar into a monster slayer taking on famous Final Fantasy creatures like Cactaur, Bomb, King Behemoth, Alraune and many more. The game plays a bit like Pokemon. Currently it is only available in Japan.
Battlemons is a monster-raising browser MMORPG from Travian Games. The game’s open beta was announced in Germany on January 14, 2013 and the worldwide localization is under way. If you like Pokemon-style game, you can go play the German version of Battlemons with the help of Google Translator.
Broken Realm is a new browser MMORPG from R2Games, which publishes Wartune Online and Crystal Saga. This game shares the same gameplay with Crystal Saga. If you like dark fantasy Browser MMO, Broken Realm is a nice one. But one thing here that should be noted is the game is entirely a rip-off of Crystal Saga.
Tekken Card Tournament is a browser-based CCG from NAMCO BANDAI Games.
Project Tank is a free to play tank combat game that is inspired from Wargaming.net’s World of Tanks
Tales of Laputa features cute characters and colorful environment that may remind you of Cyber Monster.
R2games was known to publish Crystal Saga and Wartune. Now this China-based company brings a Chinese style MMO Yitien, which is similar to Broken Realm and Crystal Saga in gameplay, but differs from its richness of Chinese culture.
Tata Blitz is developed by the creator of Call of Roma, but this game features casual gameplay and high replay value.
