The Elder Scrolls Online, a new MMO based on the popular role-playing series The Elder Scrolls, is being development by Bethesda Softworks and scheduled for release in 2013. Currently, there are still few details known about “The Elder Scrolls Online”. It is known that the new online spin-off will unveil the history of the Elder Scrolls set in a new world a thousand years before the events of Skyrim. A total of three factions will be available in the game, and the three righteous factions will work together to fight the non-selectable fourth faction.
Gameplay will include typical MMO mechanics, which means the game will be presented only in the third-person view. So people who expect a first-person Elder Scroll MMO are out of luck; Skills will be also activated through hotkey bar and there will be classes, XP, and a scope of other features typical to the game type. Besides, strategies of combats in The Elder Scrolls Online will greatly revolve around the use of “stamina bar”, which depletes when characters perform various actions like attack, block, dodge or sprint. Once characters run out of stamina, there will be temporary “fatigue recovery time” during which they cannot take any action. It will leave big open for enemy retaliation.
When players explore the new realm of Tamriel, they will discover ruins of towers built long ago by ancient race of people. But towers are not the only historical remnants that players can find throughout their journey. As players travel through the rest regions of Tamriel, they will discover various ancient Nordic catacombs, dwarves hideouts and other ancient landmarks. It is also noted that players may discover familiar places they have seen in previous installments.
The Elder Scrolls series has won over millions of fans all over the world. And now is the time for it to enter into the MMO arena. The Elder Scrolls Online will make its debut in E3 2012, following its announcement in May by Zenimax and Bethesda.
The game will be set one millennium before its fifth franchise Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. And players will have access to three factions, which are represented respectively by a dragon, a lion and a bird.
