Internet gaming is the future! Indeed! Everybody knows it! Sales of online games in Germany rose by 28 percent to 268 million euros, according to the Federal Association of Interactive Entertainment Software (BIU).

Online and browser games are booming:

The most successful online game in Germany is nothing but Farmerama by Bigpoint, which scored 10 million farmers since last year (2010).

Browser Games: with 11.3 million users, browser games are particularly popular in Germany. Because these games can be played on the web browser that displays fully animated flash games without any installation, which largely benefits office workers and college students.

Some of browser games that German guys often played include strategy games Settlers Online and Battlestar Galactica Online, Grepolis, The West and Facebook games such as Farmville, City Ville and Mafia Wars.

ONLINE GAMES: Internet games that require an installation program are enjoyed by 5.6 million people. Especially for those loving popular role playing games like World of Warcraft, RIFT MMO, and Atlantica Online and Guild Wars.

While browser games for women and men are equally popular, online games outweigh the male players with a share of 58 percent.

BIU manager Olaf Wolters: “Internet online games are the gaming trends at the moment.”

Through social networks like Facebook, Orkut, Friendster, Kongregate, the ever popular browser games become much more popular. fortunately, German companies have already recognized the new trend in time, each having an earnest desire to be an all round online game company.

Browser games developers such as Bigpoint and GameForge still lead the pack of competitors. While Frogster remains robust for their free MMORPGs. And even in the Facebook games industry, a young Berlin-based company is on the rise: wooga (World of Gaming) is the largest European provider of social games for Facebook.
