Shadowlands Online (SLO) is a free to play browser game set in the fantasy world where Gods with different belief confront each other. The game runs in the web browser with words hinting you to build empire, explore treasure, collect dropped items and unlock achievements. We played this game about 2 days and here is our preview.

I have to say, the background soundtrack is awesome! From the right beginning when you choose the character to the uncovering of its interface, the soundtrack is just like movie’s OST, the powerful and grandeur symphony with chorus can really take you to the ancient mysterious western world. It’s the best background music I’ve ever heard in all the online games I’ve played. When you close your eyes, you will think you’re listening to the OST of ‘Prince of Persia’. The producers must have spent a lot of efforts to the composition of soundtracks. So, my first impression of ‘Shadowlands Online’ is fabulous!

While coming to the interface, you’ll find it just like a dynamic painting with little people walking in it, and it somehow feels like ‘Visual Village’. You can train dragons, buy and upgrade your weapons, hum…a little fantasy type, right? But after being surprised by the soundtrack, I feel at lost. I try to click the task, hoping it will give me some directions of how to complete the task, but it doesn’t. And now, I have to find places myself, with no direction but luck and experience gained through Warflow, and Immortal King. So I can only find the dragon training ground, I’d decided to complete this task of ‘training a dragon’, which takes about 30 min. So I go to the outside town to see if I can find the ‘Blacksmith’. Well, I find a gold mine! But I’m only allowed to dig once in an hour. There is also a farm out there, where you can actually grow some weeds! Wow, that’s interesting and rare in a strategic online game like this.

Following the tasks, I managed to witness my city hall becoming level 5, and a new market was appearing on the interface when I move on the gaming. And alchemy lab comes after the city hall is level 8, and Barracks comes out at level 10. Of course, all the upgrading needs diamonds which you can earn by completing the tasks or in the expedition. Well, in the alchemy lab, you are not going to melt the metals but it’s a place for you to increase the values, like leadership, defense, offense, magic power, etc. As soon as you upgrade the city hall to level 10, you unlock the world map.

The funny thing is when you enter the world map and see bunches of other players’ towns, you click one of them and can collect their grown wheat! Lol, I surely don’t have to grow it myself, just collecting others will do. My advice is that you should read carefully during the tutorials, and just remember to upgrade the city hall till many new things appear on the interface. Then just learn how to use the map and complete the tasks.

Best Strategy game I have ever played. Easy to learn and quite addictive, especially the group legion battles!

best browser game for me… not just click, kill, level up. one must also have a well played strategy to advance in this shadow filled world…

One of the worst games I have ever played. Any strategy buff will be frustrated by hidden mechanics, generic gear and formation setups. If you want to click upgrade over and over to get strong, choose this game. If you actually want to outthink your opponent, choose another game as quickly as possible.
