New Browser Games in September, 2012

In the past month, there have been over ten new browser games coming out. Each of them has its distinctive feature but none of them manages to truly bring something unique. DotMMO has introduced or further reviewed those titles. Let’s take a closer look!
Wings of Destiny is one of those Chinese MMORPGs where you rely on the mission tracking system to find all the NPCs, enemies and monsters to accept or complete missions. A few maps are involved, each with distinctive and beautiful scenery. It is expectable for players to travel through those worlds and admire the scenes while slaying monsters and foes.
Trojan War is a deep strategy game for experienced strategy players exclusively, I’m afraid. Scores of missions are available right after the brief tutorial and are listed in random rather than in an order that helps you to get to know what everything is really about. The result is you simply follow your heart: dispatch troops, assign commanders, upgrade buildings and learn technologies. Anyway, it is totally up to you.
Cyber Monster is an old game bearing a new name. The Tamer Saga that was released a few months ago now carries a new name and lands on a new platform. However, the game itself hasn’t been changed for better and offers nothing but disappointment and frustration.
Massacre & Conquest is a military-themed RTS title where only one world map is used – don’t take that as a disadvantage. Imagine how it would feel if you don’t have to travel through various worlds or maps that cannot be more remotely connected with each other. You would deal with only one map and can get all the information about the territories, cities and borders as well as the latest news from the map. Also, you won’t have to wait for the constructions or upgrades – they can be complete instantly as long as the overall time is less than 5 hours.
AD400 is a strategy title from Gamebox too. But it is set in the ancient Rome during a time when the nation was separated into two parts. Players can choose among the Eastern Roman, Western Roman and the Hun Empire and fight for their own glory and fame. Like many strategy games out there, AD 400 stresses strategies rather than battling itself. Therefore, you need to adjust your strategies every time you fail to defeat the enemies.
Dragon’s Call II is a side-scrolling strategy game where you have almost everything taken care of simply by utilizing the mission-tracking system. Once in a while, you have conversations with NPCs and upgrade the gear of your hero and its companions so as to keep an advantage in battles and ensure you will defeat all the enemies that have the guts to stand in your way.
Starlight Story is yet another anime-style MMORPG from Aeria Games. And it immerses players in saving an endangered planet where the special and precious resources are desperately in need. Same old story. But this very game stands out with its special transformation system which allows players and their pets take the form of the previously defeated monsters and make use of their unique powers.
Rise of Europe is actually kind of similar to the recently released The Godfather: Five Families where players have the chance to be a member of several influential families, develops a city of their own, develop relations with other cities and fight for their family’s best interests. Only this time, the game is set in Medieval Europe.
Ubisoft now offers this city-building game where players will occupy an island, exploit the resources, develop the economy and colonize other islands for diversified resources. But that is not mandatory – if you prefer taking it slow and developing sound relations with other players, you can have it in your own way and then trade with your friends for the resources you need.
Might & Magic Heroes Online is also an RTS game that is on the horizon. In this game you will need to expand your territory and colonize many towns to claim the necessary resources. Might & Magic Heroes Online clearly attaches great importance to battle tactics. For example, you don’t just have to come up with the attacks to unleash but also need to determine which moves your monsters should make and which direction they should face – so as to cause greater damages and avoid fatal attacks from enemies standing just behind their backs.
The Hobbit: Armies of the Third Age is a strategy browser game from Kabam where you build your kingdom, train armies and lead them into the battlefield to fight against other online players.
