  • There was a time when classic Japanese RPGs were in a league of their own. They reigned supreme in their genre, leaving gamers of their generation spellbound with both their audacity and ingenuity, in game design and plot. This was much more than cheap, forgettable entertainment; it was a phenomenon that swept the globe. Fast forward to the present day and we find an industry saturated with attempts to reproduce the long-lost greatness of that era. Serenia Fantasy is a browser game that departs from those traditional browser based RPGs like Dragon Born or Crystal Saga, offering something refreshingly different. [...] read »

NosTale Browser Version Review
  • NosTale Browser Version Review

  • Posted on  May 9,2012  02:05 , by Sara Lau
  • Getting started with a 3D game is never easy, at least for me. Tons of tips are there for you to keep in mind, hundreds of monsters to be killed, and scores of NPCs to chat with. NosTale, to be honest, is something difficult to classify. With lousy 3D scenes, 2D figures, limited range of angles among which you can change the perspective, this game throws me out of my comfort zone the minute I started it. I didn’t know what to say when I saw the self-deceiving propaganda on the official website reading: In only 30 seconds you can [...] read »

Dozens of them have been unveiled recently. DotMMO has been busy introducing or even reviewing following games from different countries scattered all over the world and with various stories and themes. Below are latest browser games released in May 2012. War of Troy War of Troy, though inspired by the War of Troy, is a typical Chinese military strategy game where you will have the following responsibilities: construction of different facilities, collection of resources, taxation, and [...] read »

Lockdown Review
  • Lockdown Review

  • Posted on  May 8,2012  11:05 , by Sara Lau
  • Lockdown is a jail-themed strategy game available on Facebook. However, it is not a commonly-seen jail-management genre pitting the players into the roles of jail wardens. In the game, you are new jail inmates and will have to learn how to survive as you fight your way through other prisoners in order to earn you respect and reputation. You can also team up with your friends to create your own notorious criminal empire. Since Lockdown is not a creator-centric game, it cuts off the procedures in building construction. Your jail yard has already had all structures displayed there. So you [...] read »

  • Set in the same game universe as the “Raven” series of city-simulators on Facebook, Ravenshire Castle is a hybrid Facebook game revolving around city-building and role-playing. The Disney-esque animation style drawing creates a vivid fantasy world as if you are in a fairy tale. Brightly-colored cartoon character is allowed to move in more directions than the original Ravenwood Fair. The game enables players to go in full screen with a much higher-definition map, which is much bigger than Ravenwood Fair; and to my surprise, the game runs smoothly even though there were too many on-screen moving objects. As the game [...] read »

  • Final Eden is Kabam’s newest real-time strategy game in which players can gather resources, research technology, recruit soldiers, attack enemies and defending your own base. The game storyline is based on a fictional post- apocalyptic world set after a solar radiation disaster. Survivors of the disasters have been split into 3 major gangs fighting for total domination of this world. You have a 3 day grace period before you will be attacked so you have some time to get your economic running. You will start with your command center plus a big empty plot of base area where you can [...] read »

  • War of Troy is an empire building game strategy game published by China-based Joyfort Game. The game shifts you attention back to the battlefield of ancient Greek. Players enter War of Troy as an officer who takes charge in dire situation. A legendary Greek hero will explain the situation that enemy troops are besieging you, and then he will join you and voluntarily lead a small squad to hold off enemy hordes. Afterward, you will have to engage with the first tutorial battle. Battle is turn based automatically with a little animation, there is actually no strategy involved other than [...] read »

  • Armies of Magic Review

  • Armies of Magic is a highly entertaining game that combines the side-scrolling real-time strategy and city-building elements. As its name implies, the game lets you control an entire army and destroy your enemies using your magical abilities. You begin the game by choosing one of the three available fantasy races – humans, elves and orcs. Each has their own set of unique battle units and technologies. After the short intro dialogue between your military leaders, you are immediately thrown into your first tutorial battles. Armies of Magic is an incredibly simple game at its core. Both you and your opponent [...] read »

  • If anyone is to make a list of games that result to fast sleep, Lost of Legend is definitely among the top ones. The same cliché about the upgrade system and quest system in many Chinese and Korean MMORPGs like Soul of Guardian, or War of the Immortals can be discovered here. After a few clicking, I caught a glimpse of the character profile and was suddenly aware I was already level 9. Fulfill a quest, have a conversation with the NPC, and you will achieve one or more new levels. Upgrades of characters are of course realized by accumulating [...] read »

  • If anyone is willing to find a game as a perfect starter for his or her 3D gaming experience, Runes of Magic seems to be an excellent choice. That absolutely does not mean that any senior 3D gamers would loathe or tease it. It appeals to experienced 3D gamers and 2D gamers alike: those who are familiar with 2D games only would have no problems in indulging themselves in Runes of Magic while experienced 3D gamers can also enjoy themselves in its various monster slayings and boundless explorations. Upon entering the game, I saw an optional tutorial and when I [...] read »
