Pockie Ninja (Chinese: 小小忍者) is a free Online fighting game that takes on comics-associated characters like Naruto and Bleach, but the game does not offer the realistic storyline happening in the TV series. It is also not officially licensed and it has nothing with the official comics series.
Pockie Ninja is developed by a China-based game company DREAM GROUP, and published by a few of publishers including Yoogames ( Mini Ninja Online), Lekool (Ninja Waz), and Game321 (Pockie Ninja). These publishers are all from China.
In April, 2012, NGames officially announced the new addition to the current version titled “Pockie Ninja II Social” and Pockie Ninja 2 Original.
Pockie Ninja looks like a patchwork, for it not only incorporates blending characters from Mangas known as Naruto and Bleach, but also combines the similar skill-and-quest mechanics seen in Ninja Saga and a resembling pet system with Ninerift as its core gameplay. And just like a patchwork literally, it pieces all necessary elements together to form an entirety, yet it still misses something to make itself a seamless wholeness.
Featuring ninjas in the cartoon series, in-game characters turn out to be less attractive, with their images depicted neither exquisite nor animated. While the head portrait of playable characters offered in the option list is identical to the prototype, the real avatar is simply of small size and crude style, just like the awkward works from lousy painters. Comparatively, the scenes in the backdrop display better art, presenting clear and colorful world map and village panorama.
The Newbie Guide Phase is passable, providing enough information for players to get a quick understanding about the basic operation, such as starting a duel against even-leveled opponents in the Arena, learning skills at every level, equipping avatars with weapons and other items, and taking quests to get rewards, etc. Except the pet system (which is available only after a certain level), the tutorial almost covers up what it takes for players to explore deeper into the game. Yet the translation needs improving, for the text-driven guidance is blemished by confusing sentences and incoherent structure.
Not only is the tutorial, a great majority of the gameplay is also text-based, such as the description of quests and specification in skills, abilities and item attributes, etc, which are in a large measure not very helpful in guiding players through practical combat. More often than not, it’s more practical to learn from the trial and error. But the large panel of skills with its skill-and-gear swapping mode serves as a saving grace, allowing players to seek for diversified gaming experience.
It seems that the only animated part is the in-game combat, in arena or outdoor areas. Yet players are not given much control over avatars’ movement and fighting. Instead of WASD control, a simple click on the travel icon will teleport avatars to the targeted destination; and the fighting just happen automatically. Without much dazzling visual effects, the entire combat involves one avatar dashing to its motionless opponent and landing one blow, followed by a numeral indicating damage. Unavoidably, repetitiveness emerges finally, which can’t even be remedied by the introduction of assistant pets in fights.
Quests are rich in variety but loose in connection. To finish varied missions, you may explore the outside world to challenge monsters or enter arenas to duel against rivals; but the other side of the coin is that you would sooner or later feel the interests gnawed away by the lack of meaning in all these dash-and-hits.
In a nutshell, Pockie Ninja has what it takes to make a unique game, but it simply doesn’t make it.
Take the role of a powerful ninja and dive into the colorful world of Pockie Ninja. In this virtual world of comics Ninja-inspired game, you compete with other Ninja fighters and experience action-packed battles.
Pockie Ninja offers countless battles, and you have to survive with combative skills. First you should choose a casual character who adventure the world later as you are looking forward to. Keep in mind that every Ninja his or her own skills with physical and magical powers. Once you complete the basic tutorials by completing the missions, you can role-play your Pockie Ninja and improve his or her abilities.
On your journey and along your adventure, you will be, of course, faced with many dangers. For example, you could have an encounter of a Ninja Boss, but from time to time you meet cute creatures that stand in your way. By switching different places and dungeons, you will meet more and more enemies. So always keep your eye open for enemy creatures. Prove your abilities in front of your enemy and show your magical skills.
Moreover, you are dedicated to cultivating yourself. Obviously, that is not enough, you should form a team and squad to explore quests ahead and to deal a deadly blow to your enemies with skills.
Additionally, if you capture a creature as your pet, you should take good care of your cute pets that could accompany you on during your adventures.Pockie Ninja,
