Rusty Hearts is a 3D action-based anime-inspired MMORPG  developed by Korean Stairway Games and published by WindySoft for Korea and Perfect World for North America and EU. The game is tinged with adventure genre by incorporating dungeon exploration, and brawling combat. Even players could role play anime-looking vampires to challenge the monsters using controller.

In September 21, 2011, Perfect World and Valve worked together and brought the game to Steam so that players are able to get the latest updates and events as the game happens.

Dial the clock hands reversely and return back to the middle of the fourteenth century. It is a dark times when the entire Europe is plagued by the abhorring Death Black, which claims one-third of the total population. What deteriorates the situation is that the temporary peace between human and vampires has been replaced by a new wave of raging wars. Rusty Hearts opens the door of this surreal world before your eyes.

In Rusty Hearts, there are three different character archetypes available for players to select. They are semi-vampire Franz, succuba Angela and half-werewolf Tude. Each of them is endowed with unique abilities and equipped with special weapons. For instance, Franz can attack opponents in a blinking of eyes; Angela is master of magic; and Tude is best at physical melee attacks. Although it is cartoon-styled, in-game characters are designed based on the eight-head body image.

With respect to the equipment, each character is possessive of two different weapons, with the first one basic and the other more advanced gained through switching occupation. Franz has a long sword and then an axe; Angela possesses an auxiliary magic sword and then a long-distance offensive truncheon; while Tude owns a metal handguard and then a wolf-claw-like weapon.

Together with more powerful weapons, combat style will also change in accordance with the switching professions, which take place after players upgrade to level 20 and 40. With varied back stories, the three characters will follow different paths along with the unfolding storyline.

Apart from in-depth narrative stories, action and adventure are well received for their own term. Thanks to the support of advanced technology, Rusty Hearts enables players to use overall eight direction keys to act out 360-degree hits from the best perspectives.

Besides, simple operation required to play all the more accentuates the playability while at the same time brings about the sensation when playing arcade.

In addition, its PvP system is inclusive of optional modes such as Arena, Guild Battle, Tournament System and Death Match, etc. Another highlight of this game is that it extends action into adventure. To explore dungeons which are featured typical European castles and towers at medieval age, four players need to team up first before taking various quests to slay monsters, unveil myths and challenge Bosses.

What’s more, there are also interesting Crafting and Forging System and King’s Hand System, just to name a few.

Note: Perfect World also has a free MMOFPS Blacklight Retribution.
