Travian Games Acquired Former Gameforge Subsidiary Steroid Interactive

Travian Games, publisher of Free to Play online games, has announced the acquisition of the development studios Steroid Interactive, former subsidiary of Gameforge.
Travian Games continues to expand its business and buys the former Gameforge’s subsidiary Steroid Interactive, which is located in Mainz. The development studio is currently working on a new browser-based real-time strategy game.
This is the third development studio that the Munich-based company Travian Games has acquired after TG North and North Works. Steroid Interactive currently employs about a dozen employees and is now developing a browser-based real-time strategy game that is expected to go online in 2012. Both of the companies refused to disclose the purchase price and terms.
Founded in July 2009 by Manuel Reinher, Sidonie Langer, Niklas Modrow & Pierre Langer, Steroid Interactive is a young game developer that produce deliver high-quality cross-platform games.
Pierre Langer, Managing Director of Steroid Interactive said: “It is important that we officially and formerly work together with Travian Games to continue producing high quality games and this move also marks milestone in terms of strategy and sustainable future plans. ”

Travian Games is one of the most successful browser MMORPG game developers worldwide. So far it has successfully published games such as Travian, Goal United, Imperion, Remanum and etc. The Company and its subsidiaries currently offer eight different products from different genres. More than 100 million registered players have activated their games.
Game Companies like GameForge, Bigpoint, Travian Games, ChangYou, Perfect World, and Blizzard are so hungry for the best talent. But they can their companies to get their founders and engineers and even the game itself. Some people called it as “Acqhire”.
As the industry wages war for talent, Giants like Google, and Facebook are no exception of acquiring the talents through purchasing their company.
